Despite the three star review， I did enjoy this book。 Sapkowski continues to serve up a ample helpings of intrigue， battle， monsters and wit， all tied together by the engaging and weighty story of Geralt and Ciri。 My reason for the slightly lower score than the previous installments of the Witcher series is that this book was just a little too heavy on exposition for my tastes。This shows up in a few ways。 Firstly， the status of the war is constantly being relayed to the characters by others at c Despite the three star review， I did enjoy this book。 Sapkowski continues to serve up a ample helpings of intrigue， battle， monsters and wit， all tied together by the engaging and weighty story of Geralt and Ciri。 My reason for the slightly lower score than the previous installments of the Witcher series is that this book was just a little too heavy on exposition for my tastes。This shows up in a few ways。 Firstly， the status of the war is constantly being relayed to the characters by others at considerable length。 This does arguably highlight the chaos of war and how all the strategies mean nothing in the bloody frontline， but the effect is to be a bit too 'tell， not show'。 Secondly， the explanation of the characteristics of a particular type of vampire is incredibly indulgent。 It is done wittily， but fundamentally we are just listening to a character describe a monster rather than giving us cause to learn about it through action。Finally， there are some strange narrative choices that distance the reader by making even the action get told as exposition！ At one point we are inexplicably propelled 100 years into the future where a storyteller is regaling some children with the story we've just been reading。 This has no benefit to the book other than to lower the stakes of everything we have just been caught up in。 When Sapkowski does return to the 'present'， it is now the Witcher looking back and thinking things like "it was all going so well" and "how didn't I see this disaster happening？" Again， all this does is distance us from the real story for no real reason。 It felt like the author just wanted to try out some different literary devices。I still intend to finish this series of books， but I hope that from here on the become a bit more show and a bit less tell。 。。。more

Quando si andrà avanti con la storia？In questo libro sembra che l’autore tenti di scostare l’attenzione da Ciri， su cui ha catalizzato i suoi ultimi scritti， e di riportarla sul nostro strigo preferito。 L’ha inserito in un gruppo interraziale alla D&D e spedito in una missione senza senso e senza alcuna pianificazione che lo farà piombare proprio in mezzo a una guerra。 Le premesse sono buone， le opportunità anche， lo svolgimento… meh。La verità è che la storia si perde di sovente in inutili disqu Quando si andrà avanti con la storia？In questo libro sembra che l’autore tenti di scostare l’attenzione da Ciri， su cui ha catalizzato i suoi ultimi scritti， e di riportarla sul nostro strigo preferito。 L’ha inserito in un gruppo interraziale alla D&D e spedito in una missione senza senso e senza alcuna pianificazione che lo farà piombare proprio in mezzo a una guerra。 Le premesse sono buone， le opportunità anche， lo svolgimento… meh。La verità è che la storia si perde di sovente in inutili disquisizioni e chiacchiere senza costrutto， moltissimi personaggi fotocopie uno dell’altro di cui ci si dimentica subito l’identità parlano e parlano e parlano e non fanno niente di che。 Di Ciri e di Yennefer si hanno solo brevi flash e l’autore le abbandona subito al loro destino。 A Geralt viene affiancata una nuova figura femminile dallo stesso carattere della sua amata e storie di bambini che gli ricorderanno senz’altro la sua figlia della sorpresa come a volergli riproporre il suo passato。 In compenso si è oramai trasformato in un combattente piuttosto scarso e dolorante e dal cuore oramai troppo buono per uccidere i mostri o chiunque altro。 Sdolcinato e romantico si affezionerà persino alla sua recalcitrante cavalcatura Rutilia。La storia è lenta， la trama si è impantanata e non si vede la luce in fondo al tunnel。Sinceramente non riesco a capire se Sapkowski stia cercando di allungare la storia oltre ogni decenza， o se si sia effettivamente perso nel suo mondo senza alcun editor che lo riporti sulla diritta via di una storia che appassioni il lettore， perché se ripenso a quanto ho appena letto， non mi sembra che i personaggi o la storia abbiano fatto alcun passo in avanti， sono esattamente allo stesso punto in cui erano alla fine del precedente libro e questo non ha senso。 。。。more

Końcówka zdecydowanie zrekompensowała średniawą całość。 Niestety， trudno jest nie odnieść wrażenia， że Chrzest ognia jest tomem przejściowym， który raczej do całej sagi wnosi bardzo niewiele， a szkoda！ Mój problem z tą pozycją jest też nieco bardziej złożony。 Otóż， pierwsza część książki była mega słaba， serio， albo przyczyną jest to， że czytałem poprzedni tom stanowczo za dawno， albo po prostu Sapkowski nie pociągnął tempa， które narzucił 4 tom。 I szkoda， bo liczyłem na podobną dawkę akcji， int Końcówka zdecydowanie zrekompensowała średniawą całość。 Niestety， trudno jest nie odnieść wrażenia， że Chrzest ognia jest tomem przejściowym， który raczej do całej sagi wnosi bardzo niewiele， a szkoda！ Mój problem z tą pozycją jest też nieco bardziej złożony。 Otóż， pierwsza część książki była mega słaba， serio， albo przyczyną jest to， że czytałem poprzedni tom stanowczo za dawno， albo po prostu Sapkowski nie pociągnął tempa， które narzucił 4 tom。 I szkoda， bo liczyłem na podobną dawkę akcji， intryg i ciekawych dialogów， a w zamian dostaliśmy dosyć powolną fabułę， która nie dawała tutaj nawet zbyt dużego pola do popisu， nawet w kontekście ciętych ripost czy różnych przemyśleń。Ale potem książka wjeżdża z buta z drugą częścią， która była diametralnie różna。 Przepełniona suspensem， intrygami， które zaczynają mieć sens i bardzo ciekawymi wątkami， jak chociażby ten z Milvą pod koniec powieści。 Końcówka jest doskonała， chyba jak na razie moje ulubione zakończenie w książkach o Wiedźminie， cholernie symboliczne były te sceny。 I dlatego też bardzo ciężko mi to ocenić。 Bo wiadomo， nie będę się powtarzał odnośnie stylu， bohaterów， zwięzłości czy kunsztu Sapkowskiego。 W momencie， gdy jest się w połowie sagi， ocenia się już jedynie， to czy dana fabuła nas wciąga i czy czyta nam się miło， łatwo i przyjemnie。 A tutaj niestety， jakoś tak nierówno to wszystko wyszło。 Ale wiem jedno - zabiorę się za Wieżę jaskółki zdecydowanie prędzej， bo trochę czasu mi tu zajęło by przypomnieć sobie o co w ogóle tutaj chodzi XD 。。。more

well-known protagonists like Geralt and Ciri go through seminal trials， even the supporting actors need to resolve some pending issues with the past or with themselves so that they can continue on their journeys。 The idea of crossing a threshold is always present， both in the story and in the atmosphere itself， which in many scenes shows war survivors on the margins of survival， marked by horrors and always needing to overcome just one more barrier before reaching salvation。In Geralt's case， his trial is internal rather than external。 There is no specific imminent danger threatening expose the author's modus operandi within the series。 If necessary or if it were his will， Geralt's books could have a completely linear and adventurous style， all in an organization common to a long work。 However， the writer actually chooses to follow a mixed narrative full of peculiarities， working in thematic and stylistic layers that best serve to tell a certain segment of the story。As for the plot of the work， however， it is not very easy to make compliments that are very different from Tempo do Desprezo and other works。 As a whole， the previous book has much more significant and iconic moments， but Baptism by Fire does not cease to function within the series。 It is clearly a continuation of what had already been established， with the story continuing recognizably and with the same quality as the previous ones。 Amid all the changes in style and structure of the chapters， all the dialogues full of sarcasm， irony and black humor remain， in addition to the events that mix drama， action， roguery and a light dose of absurdism。 The story progresses very well， until it ends up placing the protagonists， especially Ciri， in positions that promise that the next book， The Tower of This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 This book felt like it dragged on forever。 It also became deeply confusing near the end when it seemed that this entire story is being told years later by an old man around a fire and then Gerelt suddenly takes some first person accounting。 It became so confusing who is telling the story and when we are learning about it。 Ciri's portions are annoying in this book and Yennifer's nonexistent。 Instead it was a whole lot of Gerlet and his mix match DnD campaign going the wrong way at all times and M This book felt like it dragged on forever。 It also became deeply confusing near the end when it seemed that this entire story is being told years later by an old man around a fire and then Gerelt suddenly takes some first person accounting。 It became so confusing who is telling the story and when we are learning about it。 Ciri's portions are annoying in this book and Yennifer's nonexistent。 Instead it was a whole lot of Gerlet and his mix match DnD campaign going the wrong way at all times and Milva obviously being pregnant but not saying a word about it until， oops！ After deciding for herself whether she wants to keep the baby or not she miscarries。。。。 I am hopeful the series can turn back around and find more interesting footing but this one just felt like an extremely long and unimportant set up for the next book。 。。。more

"Вещерът"。По принцип никога не успявам да прочета една поредица наведнъж。 Заради краткотрайното си внимание изглежда， ми се налага да направя книжна пауза след най-много втората част и в последствие да я подхвана отново。 Което често се случва след месеци， та чак до година време。。。Чувствата ми към "Вещерът" обаче не позволиха на читателя в мен да прекъсне тази специална поредица。 Искренната любов， която изпитвам към произведението на полския автор， ме удари по главата， както Рапунцел възлюбения си разбойник， още с първата книга。 За заинтересуваните сред вас - така и не ме е пуснала， дори сега， когато вече приключих с всичко излязло изпод "перото" на Сапковкси за Гералт， Цирила и Йенефер。 На пръв поглед цялостната идея на това осем-томно чудовище изглежда напълно。。。 ами， обикновена май。 Има вещици， интриги， изгубена принцеса и неразбран войн。 Самият начин， по който всичко това обаче бива събрано и комбинирано от ръцете на писателя， прави нещата специални。 Анджей Сапковкси изгражда характери на героите си и им дава собствен глас， с който да се отличават през хода на историята。 Създава невероятно реалистична междукралствена интрига и като че， от тази гледна точка， напълно успява да пресъздаде чувството за исторически роман。 Добавя замисъл зад диалозите и действията на персонажите си， както и значение зад легендите на различните раси。 Да， има и магия， има лигава тийнейджърка， има го онзи вечно сърдит мъжага със скритите дълбоки чувства。。。 Единствената разлика между "Вещерът" и всички останали тийн-фентъзи книги обаче е， че тези клишета са използвани по истински и иновативен начин， придавайки съвсем друг вид на "голямата картина"。От една страна леко съжалявам， че се реших да прочета поредицата， едва след като вече бях изгледала първия сезон на сериала на Netflix。 От друга страна пък съм доволна， защото така не останах разочарована от сериала в последствие， а и можех да си представям героите в книгата като актьорите， които са подбрани доста добре， честно да си призная。Начинът， по който Сапковкси пише， ми допада изключително много。 Основното нещо， чрез което успява да се отличи сред масата от писатели， е странното му желание да смесва ироничния хумор с всичко。 Няма значение от сцената， винаги може да разчитате на чичо Анджей да ви разсмее。 Като същевременно ви кара да се чувствате виновни， защото не би трябвало да се хилите на този черен хумор。Обожавам диалозите между главния ни герой Гералт и неговия досаден приятел Лютичето。 Също така и тези между Гералт и магьосницата Йенефер。 Оо， и тези между магьосниците по принцип。 А сега се сетих колко ми бях интересни и разговорите между джуджетата и тези между елфите。 Всъщност。。。 Анджей Сапковкси си знае работата。 Единствено мога да си мечтая някой ден да съм способна да измислям толкова реалистични и завладяващи диалози！ Същото важи и за описанията всъщност。。。А сега， когато стигнахме до края на ревюто， ще отбележа само， че всеки уважаващ себе си читател， трябва *ТрЯбВа* да види кориците на "Вещерът" от CIELA！ Определено Живко Петров за пореден път се е справил невероятно със задачата си。 Направо ми изтекоха очите като ги видях за първи път。 На всеки запален фен на вселената пък （аз） ще му се наложи да се пречупи и да си вземе невероятно красивата книга в допълнение към поредицата -
